Our mission is simple—we want to make the world a better place, one pop at a time.
In 2011, our CEO Erik and his cousin Jonathan dreamt up the idea for an all-natural, fruit-forward, purely delicious frozen treat that would take the market by storm. Together, they searched for inspiration, trying every fruit bar and ice cream novelty they could find. What they discovered was that there were two types of pops out there: icy and artificial, or decadent and unhealthy.
They made a pledge that their product would be better—made with real fruit, nothing artificial, and something you can feel good about eating.
Before the cousin duo got started on their new business, Jonathan passed away as a result of a drug overdose. He had struggled with addiction for several years, seeking treatment at Hazelden’s youth centers, and his passing came as a devastating blow to all who knew him.
About a year later, in his college dorm room, Erik told some friends about his cousin’s passing and the idea they had together. Moved by the story and intrigued by the thought of a wholesome and delicious treat, the group decided to make it a reality.
Made with real fruit. Nothing artificial!
Staying true to the vision, the main ingredient in most of our pops is real fruit, they’re all made with absolutely nothing artificial, and most importantly, they’re absolutely delicious.
We named the company JonnyPops as a way to honor Jonathan and we adopted the motto, A Better Pop for a Better World.
In Jonny’s memory, we donate a portion of our proceeds and products to the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, a national leader in addiction treatment and recovery. We hope to raise awareness of substance abuse, and make a difference in the lives of those affected by the disorder.
Every pop sold helps us make a contribution to Hazelden—but we don’t stop there. On every JonnyPops stick you’ll find a good deed that we encourage you to pay forward. We believe that every act of kindness—no matter how big or small—goes a long way.
